Socially Just, Culturally Rich, and Ecologically Restorative
Our Mission
The mission of the International Living Future Institute (Living Future) is to cultivate a society that is socially just, culturally rich, and ecologically restorative. To do this, the organization envisions a living future and shows that it works better in practice and policy.
Living Future is premised on the belief that providing a compelling vision for the future is needed to reconcile humanity’s relationship with the natural world. Living Future’s programs have shaped more than 55 million square feet of real estate development across the United States and around the world.
Our mission is a society that is socially just, culturally rich, and ecologically restorative.
Our Strategy
Our Common Living Future
2022 – 2024 Strategic Plan
The concept of the ‘future’ can be a deceptively simple idea.
It lives in the realm of the imagination. It can feel like the Jetsons TV show – a static vision of a better world, a few decades from now, where our problems have been fixed and our surroundings are entirely new and different.
So while we have every reason to feel excited about our momentum, we must also stay vigilant and persistent in pushing for the futures we believe in. The scenario of a ‘living future’ is still a much less likely scenario than the massively catastrophic scenarios we face today.
Thus, it is fundamentally necessary to have a large and passionate community of advocates showing up to push for this living future.
